Drinks Reception Music
When the formalities are over there is nothing better than to kick back and relax with your friends, family and loved ones for a few beverages before the big meal. Having played at innumerable weddings over the years we are aware that they come in all kinds of shapes and sizes. Some will prefer and relaxed set of “background music” which we are experienced with providing, generally around a single-microphone layout. Not only is this low-tech setup easy to manoeuver around, it looks the part too!
However, just as many clients of ours want to get the energy flowing with some lively music and that’s another angle we know exactly how to take. For those unfamiliar with the bluegrass music style, it might be a new audible experience but, as anyone who knows the genre will tell you, it’s a very energetic form of music and one that will get your feet tapping and arms swinging. With
the classic instrumental line-up of driving acoustic guitar, melodic and rhythmic mandolin, rolling banjo and a fat double-bass, we can knock the socks off any party thrown at us.
Best of all, our large selection of music (found, in part, on our website) has something to cater for everyone and, yes, WE DO TAKE REQUESTS. If there is a particular song/tune you would like us to play for your drinks receptions (or perhaps a few from a particular artist) get in touch no less than one month in advance of the date and we will not let you down.
Ceremony Music
A wedding wouldn’t be a wedding without, of course, a memorable ceremony. Whether religious, humanist or otherwise, a form of celebration focused on the couple is the epicentre and beginning of memory-making with friends, family and loved ones. With The Irish Bluegrass Band, we have a very broad selection of suitable material for this part of the day.
If you are going for the traditional church environment we have a repertoire of old hymns and gospel songs that suit the occasion and setting. We can sing gospel songs in two-, three- or four-part harmony or, alternatively, play these songs as instrumentals. And, speaking of instrumentals, we also have at our disposable many beautiful Irish and American/Gospel airs that can be played without singing, if required. Adding to the dynamics of the occasion, we often like to step out of our usual bluegrass instrumentation (banjo, mandolin, guitar and double bass) and utilise the multi-faceted talents of our members.
In this light, arrangements can be put together using tin whistle, wooden flute and violin in any combination with the above. Of course, if the ceremony is a little off the beaten track and you would rather a different vibe to the usual airs and hymnals, we can provide a great variety of love songs (both sacred, secular or personal) in a myriad of different instrumental and vocal arrangements.
The real beauty of booking your ceremony with us, however, is that we will learn and perfect and particular instrumentals or songs in arrangements that you request too. So whether you want Amazing Grace, Raglan Road, In My Life (The Beatles) or anything in between, The Irish Bluegrass Band have you covered.
